Spring is trying hard to come to KY, but…

We have been home from sunny Florida for almost a month and winter continues to show it’s ugly face.  I’ve had to cover my flowers to keep them from freezing on several nights, most days we still need a jacket, and I’m not wearing my flip-flops!  Today started out cold but ended up quite nice so there’s hope spring will be here to stay before many more days.  Of course, it could do a repeat of last year…cold, then 20 minutes of spring, and that same day summer showed up and stayed.  HOT, HOT, HOT days for a lot of the summer.  The days that are cool aren’t to bad if the sun is shining, but those days that are just gloomy are so depressing.  I do like having several weeks we neither need heat or the AC which makes for lower utility bills.  Those are my favorite.

The virus continues to keep us all safely at home and this isn’t a whole lot different than what my life has been like for the last 57 years.  I do miss getting to go, and come as I feel fit, eating out, and just being with friends and family.  Even when our governor opens our state back up for business, we’ll be reluctant to go out due to our age, etc.  Once we have the vaccine and have gotten it, I’ll feel a lot better about going out into public places.  That may not happen for another year, or so, so we just have to be patient.  If the healthcare system gets overwhelmed, they will have no choice but to pick who lives and who they will let die.  They don’t want to do that and I don’t want them doing that.  Therefore, we stay put.

I have enjoyed seeing all the kids, some of the grandkids, LLB, and Linda and Jim on our Sunday evening ZOOM gatherings.  We never have much to say but it’s just good to see each other, interact a little, and catch up on what’s happening to each.

Meredith will be moving back to Nashville in a little over a week and she will be so missed.  It’s one thing for them to go to college, but to actually move is a little harder.  She finished college in just three years, would have graduated with honors if the graduation event has happen, and is now gainfully employed as a paralegal with a law firm.  She plans to start law school in the fall of 2021.

Jerod also finished college with honors and will be going to the UK medical school this fall.  He and Rebekah have had to postpone their wedding until June 11, 2021 due to the virus…bummer.  She, too, will be going to UK and plans to earn her PhD in chemistry.  Those two are so smart and I wish them both well and look forward to what all is in their future.

Grayson also was suppose to graduate from high school, but again nothing due to the virus.  He’ll be going to Lipscomb in the fall and he plans on becoming a teacher…one of the cool teachers…and he will be very successful at that.  Blake is also at Lipscomb studying pre med so the Crockett’s are some of the schools favorites.

The twins are not liking having school at home and mama is not overly thrilled they are there since she’s having to work from home currently.  I guess too much togetherness is not all that good after all.  Tyler is bummed by being back home and not getting to fly like he wanted.  He’ll go back to EKU in the fall.  Madi is working at UPS and hoping to start cosmetology school at some point but not just sure when that will happen.  That will be a good fit for her as she’s so good at all that now and hasn’t gone to school for it yet.  All the other grandkids are doing well, as far as we know.  We were excited when Chase and Tara announced they were expecting a second one.  I think she would like a girl but I’m thinking it just might be a boy.  We’ll love this blessing and hope she’ll have a easier delivery with this second one.

Guess I’ve rattled on long enough.  Stay well and let’s all think SPRING.  Love to you all.

Blessings……..
