Wedding…

Jerod and Rebekah are now a married couple and we wish them a great life together.  Their original wedding date was June 12 and it was to be held in Dixon, TN with about 200 friends/family attending.  Because of the pandemic everything changed.  The wedding was held in our backyard and attended by just 15 family members…Rebekah’s parents, brother, and sister…Jerod had his parents, 2 brothers, sister, and us.  Definitely small but it really was intimate and beautiful.

On Friday night, Melissa came to Wilmore to help get the backyard decorated and she and Tanya were up until after 1 a.m. doing stuff that would be used the next day.  They were up, and out, by 7 a.m. the next morning to go gather wild flowers that were to be used for decorations…tight budget.  When they got to the area that has lots of beautiful wild flowers the were shocked to see that that field had been mowed the day, or so, before.  Therefore, NO FLOWERS.  Because Melissa is a genius when it comes to decorating she knew just what to do…look for flowering weeds elsewhere.  They came back with a car load of weeds that were to be considered “baby breath”…and some chiggers came along for the ride.  Now that they are back, we are all now in a full decorating mode…a better mode would be “get er done…”, the sun blazing fully on us, and the humidity rising rapidly.  Oh the memories being made while the sweat was dripping.  It took between 5-6 hours to get it all together and it looked amazing.

The catered dinner of bar-b-que, slaw, potato salad, fruit tray, relishes, and rolls was delicious.  I hear the wedding cake was amazing, but full of gluten, and was well received by all.  We were thankful that no pop up showers showed up and would have gladly cut back on the heat (90) and humidity (over the top).  Thankfully, we did have some shady areas over a lot of the backyard so we all survived.

I was hoping to insert some pictures but can’t get it to happen so I’ll send to any that request one.

We also had a very short visit with Carter and Lori this past week and that was great, as usual.  They are now on their way to South Dakota to spend several days with Lori’s family there.  After that, they will be touring several places in different parts of the west and they were looking forward to that.  Lori has been to most of the spots they will go to since she grew up out west but most will be new for Carter.  They won’t be back home to Franklin until July.  I know they will love all they have planned to do and hope they will take lots of pictures to share.

Guess that’s about it for now.  We’ll be celebrating our 58th anniversary tomorrow and the years have really added up fast.  For the most part, it’s been good but we have had some parts where we had to hang on tight and I’m so thankful we did.  We’ll be going to dinner to celebrate at a nice restaurant in Lexington that has a nice patio…not ready for indoor dining yet..and then we’ll come home…no movies we’re wanting to see that I’m aware of.

Keep praying for our country and that we will eventually truly love all like Jesus does and learn to appreciate our differences. Pray that Lacey stays safe as she works in the downtown areas of Louisville.  Not a very safe place currently.  Have a great week and stay cool. Love to all.

Blessings…..“
