Here it is the 21st day of December and I have so little to share. We are currently in North Port, Florida and it’s an amazing day…sunny, a little windy, and a warm 68 degrees. We arrived here at Bob and Kathy Ahern’s place on Friday, the 18. With COVID being very prevalent here, we won’t be doing much more than we’d be doing at home…staying at home. We’ll be warm here, go for a walk each day, and no longer be worried about being cold. We will move over to Venice on January 1 and be there until the last day of February. We ask about adding some extra days to our Venice place but they were charging more than we wanted to pay for the extra days…since in was over the Christmas holiday…that we started looking elsewhere. When you try for too much $$$ you some times end up with nothing. Bob and Kathy suggested we use their home since they would not be here until sometime in January, or even later. The stay here was gifted to us, so we could not resist FREE and headed down.
We are not nearly as close to the beach here in North Port, the club house is not available due to COVID, but that’s OK as the lanai is nice and sunny and we are definitely comfortable. Christmas will be very different as we don’t exchange gifts any longer, no decorations are up, family is all elsewhere, and we know no one in this area. Even if we did, we wouldn’t be able to be together.
We are definitely looking forward to getting the vaccine when it becomes available to us. We know we’ll still have to be cautious and wear a mask, etc. but once enough have gotten the vaccine, we. Can finally find our new normal. The people we know that have gotten sick…grandson Blake, friend Ellen, niece Tori and her family, have all been quite sick. With our age, and health issues, we would most likely not survive. Therefore, we shall stay put here in sunny Florida.
