Almost Easter Time…

I find it hard to believe it’s been so long since I’ve been on here. But, here it is almost the middle of April and we are still waiting for spring to return and stay. After my last post, the first part of March, we’ve had a big 10 inch snow, a 6 inch snow, and some really cold days and nights. Of course, we did enjoy a couple of spring like days scattered in between those snows, but winter just refuses to leave.

We did have a good time the first week, or so, of April as we were in Texas and Kansas. While in Texas, we celebrated with Lorin and Patsy their 50th wedding anniversary. Victoria did a good job of organizing, planning, and implementing the big event…which is a big job when you’re the only kid to do it. We got to spend time with Lawrence, Linda, Buddy, Linda, Jim, Clark, and Vanessa and that was super fun. Seeing a few of my cousins was also a delight and, thankfully, we all behaved and enjoyed being together.

After the celebration, we headed to Ft. Worth with Clark and Vanessa to visit with Madi and Julian. Madi is now living in Ft. Worth and is back in cosmetology school while Julian works full time for Amazon. Things appear to be going well for them. Melissa and Byron were visiting with them so that proved to be a most fun time. We went to a very good, but very big, Mexican Restaurant…seats 1,000 people…Sunday night and met Angela, and some of her family there.

Monday morning Clark, Vanessa, George, and I headed out to do some “picking” for Vanessa shop. We went to Canton, TX and that was a over-the-top wholesale shopping area and Vanessa found LOTS of cute things for the shop. After several hours there, along with many dollars spent, we headed to additional “picking” places all the way to Wichita, KS. We didn’t get to Clark and Vanessa’s until Tuesday evening but the trailer was almost full along with the bed of clark’s truck.

On Wednesday, we went to see her shop, CottonTail, and it is super cute. She sells new, vintage, and antique items and business continues to be good. Vanessa has a real knack for decorating and helping people find just the right thing to make their home special. We were able to spend a little time with Lacey, Dwayne, and Cain while there but it was soon time to head for KY.

Thursday morning we go to the Wichita airport for out flight home with a quick layover in Chicago. Our plane was late getting into Wichita which made us late getting into Chicago. Landing planes seem to land at the furthest gate from your next take off gate so George and I were hoofing it through O’Hare…George’s watch said he set a new PR and mine said it appeared I was exercising.. We got to the new gate before the plane departed but, unfortunately, we were not there 15 minutes prior to departure so our seats were taken by stand-by guest. The guy at our gate said he’d get us on the next available plane which just happen to be on Sunday afternoon…remember this is Thursday around noon. That didn’t really appeal to us so we rented a car and got home around 1 a.m. on Friday. May not have been the ideal thing for these OLD folks to do, but the good Lord watched over us and we were glad to get home safely.

Guess I’ve rattled on long enough. We are looking forward to celebrating our 60th anniversary soon and life has really flown by and we continue to be blessed in so many ways. Love to all and HAPPY EASTER and never forget that the Lord has RISEN.

Blessings….
