Surprise!

I am back after a rather long absence and I can honestly say you haven’t missed a lot. I’m not ever sure where I left off. Therefore, I will go back to June and say, once again, our anniversary party was amazing and so appreciated.

All the kids got together and organized a party like none we’ve ever had in the 60 years of our marriage. So many friends, family member attended, and we received many notes of appreciation for our lives shared together. Our house is small, and was overflowing with family, but our hearts were bursting with JOY. That was the first time in over five years all of the kids were all here at the same time and, as a parent, it was so very, very special. I pray it won’t be five more years before we all get together again.

This summer has been extremely hot so we haven’t done a whole lot as to traveling. We did go to Memphis the end of August…not cool there for sure…and got to spend some time with Scott, Allison, Neyland, and Turner. Our purpose was to just spend some time with them and to also watch the boys play in their school’s football game. Both of them play well and do a good job. Unfortunately, they lost that game but they are improving and looking for a big win soon.

Here it is September and we just got back from spending a few days in Gulf Shores, AL with Carter, Lori, her parents (Butch and Jean), and her brother David. We were only there 2 1/2 days but it was a great time and I got my beach fix, so all is well for now. On the way down to Gulf Shores we stopped in Cullman, AL to take Matt (Jerry’s son) and his family to dinner. We had not previously met his children and they were both so cute. Carson is in the 9th grade and Haley is in the 7th so they are getting pretty big. On the way home, we stopped in Athens and took Jerry, Kelsey and her boyfriend, Paul, to dinner. Rita, Jim, and their over the top in cuteness granddaughter met us there so we had a good visit with all of them…Chipper and Marjorie didn’t come because she was recovering from eye surgery.

A few weeks ago we had a new roof installed due to a bad hail storm several months ago. All we can say is “Thank you, Lord” as it was needing replaced since it was over 25 years old. Now this week we have had the siding on the house replace thanks to the same hail storm ,so we’re looking pretty spiffy for an old house. I’m painting the front door a new color today (rather bright green) and that will brighten up the place even more. If I don’t like it, I’ll pick our something a little calmer but I love the color we picked out on the color chart so we’ll see.

Guess that’s enough for now and I’m hoping you are still able to read this since it’s been so long…you may have just given up. We do have some exciting stuff coming up but I’ll write more about that when it’s happening. Love to you.

Blessings….
